ProWorks Signs Mentor-Protégé Agreement with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
Corvallis, OR: May 17, 2005 - ProWorks Corporation recently announced that it had entered into a Mentor-Protégé agreement with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. The Mentor-Protégé program encourages Department of Energy (DOE) prime contractors to assist small, disadvantaged and women owned businesses execute DOE and other Federal contracts and subcontracts.
PNNL is one of nine DOE national laboratories and has won a total of 58 Federal Laboratory Consortium awards for technology transfer. As the “mentor” in this agreement, PNNL staff will serve as technical advisors to ProWorks by assisting in areas such as writing contracts and grant proposals, and understanding the overall government contracting process and requirements. Other business elements that can be included in a Mentor-Protégé agreement might be assistance with communications, marketing, human resources, developing business plans, and other technical areas. The program seeks to foster a long-term business relationship between small business entities and DOE prime contractors, and to increase the overall number of small businesses that receive DOE contract and subcontract awards.
“This agreement provides a small company like ProWorks with the support needed to pursue Federal contracts,” said ProWorks’ owner Susan Prothero. “It will enable ProWorks to qualify, compete for and win larger and more complex procurements.”
Located in Corvallis, Oregon, ProWorks is a woman-owned, small business. Since 1986 ProWorks has developed software solutions that help commercial and government clients analyze, visualize, and understand their complex data. ProWorks is a key partner in PNNL’s ‘Morning Report’ technology that analyzes routine flight data for atypicalities in order to improve aviation safety. The ‘Morning Report’ has recently been nominated for R&D magazine’s prestigious R&D 100 award.
